Rory O'Shea Was Here

Meet Rory, he's got spikey hair, a nose ring and a larger-than-life personality and when he rolls into a room he makes sure everyone takes notice! Rory has muscular dystrophy and not much time left in this world. He is determined to enjoy every moment and refuses to abide by the rules that others think he should live by. But he is not perfect; when he is hurting he verbally lashes out. But his friends love him anyways. His closest friend is Michael. Michael has cerebral palsy and has lived in an institution his whole life. He never even imagines life outside of there, until Rory comes along and teaches him a thing or two about independence. This movie doesn't make you just "feel sorry" for those with disabilities. The movie veiwer shares the everyday moments but also the fun ones. This movie will touch you and break your heart. It is also a reminder that we all leave an impression on this earth. Enjoy. 1/5/09

Venus Beauty Institute

This story follows the character of Angele, a forty-something esthetician who works in a busy beauty salon in Paris. The day in and day out activities and adventures include a parade of colorful characters that frequent the salon. Angele has satisfactory relationships with her coworkers but seems distracted by her own melancholy to really connect with them. It is not that she doesn�t care for them; in fact she extends herself to them when they truly need her. Her love life is another story. After a series of one night stands and failed relationships, Angele finds herself lonely and fed up with love. Then a younger scruffy stranger who has become smitten with her starts pursuing her. She reluctantly starts seeing him and navigating yet another romance, only to find he has a few hang ups of his own. It was an enjoyable, down to earth movie that I would recommend to others who enjoy Foreign films.

Paris When it Sizzles

If you are in a mood to see something light-hearted, altogether silly, and somewhat romantic, then queue this. It was delightful as the two main characters (Hepburn and Holden) come up with a twisty, over the top screen play together and in that process really come to like one another. The dialog is funny and they refer to Hepburn's previous films every once in a while. A true fan will catch on to that. This film allows you just to watch and enjoy the early 1960's in the music and wardrobe. No thinking is necessary, only fun is to be had!

New York City Ballet: The Complete Workout: Vols. 1 & 2

As an instructional video I cannot rate this very high. There is NO instruction. The dancers on screen, while beautiful and graceful, quickly move from one dance move to another. It is nice to watch if you want to watch it as a ballet video, but even with a dance background I had a difficult time enjoying the workout. You may not avert your eyes, which for some, especially auditory learners, can not follow. The music is very nice however.

Frontline: The Medicated Child

This documentary, while informative, should inflame parents. It examines a couple of families' lives that are controlled by so called mental disorders and their medications. These poor kids are drugged to maximum capacity because the "experts" are admittedly using their best guess when prescribing powerful drugs that have not even been tested in children. What is eye opening to me is the parents in this film who feel that these drugs are absolutely necessary for their children. Their blind faith in the medical community seems very natural, however is astounding. The sheer volume of mental disorder diagnoses in children in this country compared to others alone raises red flags within me. These doctors seem to throw out common sense with all their evaluations, which is shameful. "Medicine" is not always the answer, and no alternatives are even suggested. Striping the chemicals out from the body, found in our over-processed and artificially flavored foods, everyday products and medications would seriously aleve a lot of these issues in these kids. There are Natural alternatives out there. Parents: Your child is not a guinea pig. If one even suspects these types of diagnoses, one should do some serious research on their own.

The Education of Little Tree

This is a coming of age story of a little boy-Little Tree- orphaned by his parents, he finds "home" with his grandparents and then is taken from their gentle loving arms by the government (since they always know best) and placed in an Indian School. This particular school is abusive and more like a prison. This takes place at a time in American history that isn't the most flattering. But there are lessons to be learned here. This sort of thing should never happen again, and with knowledge comes understanding so hopefully something like this won't happen again. The movie makes you think about how special the bonds are to your own loved ones and the importance of knowing your heritage. Despite his mistreatment, Little Tree's spirit is not broken. The scenery is beautiful and the performances are enjoyable.

Martian Child

This movie touches the heart as David (John Cusack) reaches out amidst his own personal pain to heal anothers' pain. That another being Dennis (Bobby Coleman), a child who, abandoned from birth, is considered undesirable in terms of adoptability. The challenges David faces as a single parent, healing from the loss of his spouse is insurmountable. Yet he manages, in an unconventional way, to overcome his challenges. His unique ability to be the type of parent that Dennis needs is inspiring. The movie really focuses on the relationship between Dennis and David. There are a lot of messages to be received from this movie- acceptance, understanding and unconditional love. Let this movie warm your heart as it did mine.

Funny Face

There are many elements in this movie that may have given inspiration to characters and themes in the series Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada. On the surface this movie is about the assumed shallow desires that must lay within all women: the "fairy tale" of being a princess for a day, complete with musical numbers. On a deeper level, it is trying to link Fred Astaire's character with Audrey Hepburn romantically, which doesn't really work here. Audrey plays the intellectual plain jane, who would really like to be appreciated for her mind. But she is discovered by a photographer that must have her for a major magazine ad campaign, and it is her funny face they are after. They are only interested in changing her to have her fit their ideals. This movie does contain some classic Audrey Hepburn moments, that I am sure fans will not be disapointed to see her light up the screen during the photo shoot scenes. The story is just ok. I would recommend Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's before this one.

Hogfather

Wow, what a fantastic movie. How this slipped by so unnoticed is beyond me. The movie is a fantasy holiday movie. It is full of heart and hope. The plot is detailed and the characters are colorful. This movie is great for the whole family. It is a bit like the Chronicles of Narnia or Harry Potter. Death has a heart and takes over when the Hogfather (Santa) disappears. He has help from some unlikely sources unraveling the mystery of the Hogfather's disappearance This movie will definitely become a holiday staple in our house.

Great Women Artists: Georgia O'Keeffe

This film just takes you through the work of Georgia O'Keefe, with highlights from her life thrown in. You may not learn much about the artist's life, but you will learn a lot about the work she was so famous for. It is a quick paced film, moving swiftly through a study of her work. Each frame gives a brief description and a greater understanding of the artist's inspirations and influences of her fine work. A wonderful artist, O'Keefe's humble confidence is an inspiration to others.

Iron Jawed Angels

This little known movie is a history lesson, and a gift to women in this country. It serves as a reminder what our grandmothers and Great-grandmothers endured. The cast was top notch and the story is touching and educational! All women should see this. It will mean so much more to me everytime I cast a vote.

Confetti

Confetti is a British Mocumentary, in the style of "Waiting For Guffman" but with weddings. The characters are absurd and zany as they vie for the "Most Unique Wedding" title and first prize hosted by a premiere wedding magazine. The blend of quirkiness works well within this film and the concept is humorous. Fans of "Best of Show" and "A Mighty Wind" will probably enjoy this film. Follow these 3 couples, 2 wedding planners and ONE big day for the 3 distinctively differrent weddings. Once this movie gets rolling along, one wonders how they are going to pull it all off!

The Memory Keeper's Daughter

Pleasant movie adaptation of the book. I really enjoyed Emily Watson's stellar performance. The story is unique and I am glad they put it on scrreen. Not bad for Lifetime, either, so don't let that make your queueing decission. Bring your kleenex, you'll need it.

Another You

Pryor and Wilder were like comic gold with each other. They were such a natural duo. Pryor was obviously being ravaged by his disease but still managed to pull off another great comedy with Wilder. This is another buddy comedy that gets rolling right along. Pryor plays a con-man and Wilder is a pathelogical liar fresh out from his treatment in the looney bin. After being mistaken for a man by the name of Abe Fieldings, Wilder and his new best pal Eddie both get caught up in another con, will they have the last laugh? Will Wilder's character be cured? Will they ever sort out the mystery of who Abe Fieldings really is? Find out by watching Another You!

The Mists of Avalon

I never read the book so I had no preconceived thoughts going into this. I rather enjoyed this made for tv fantasy epic. The characters were interesting and I was moved by the emotional acting. The actors are really top notch. The one thing that I think needs a little warning for parents is there are two sexual situations that are not suitable for children. But if that is not an issue, invest the time in this movie, it's worth it.

In the Time of the Butterflies

This movie is based on a true story, set in the Dominican Republic, under the rule of an evil Dictator. This is really just a cross-cut section of Minerva Mirabel's life and what influences her transition from an innocent farm girl to an inspiring revolutionary leader. The movie as a whole felt a bit short, as if they were just highlighting the main experiences of her life. The script could have been a bit more complex, in my opinion. Overall, Salma Hayek is a lovely actress and did a fine job here, but perhaps connected with the character in Frida a bit better, a biopic I would recommend to others.

Autumn in New York

Fortunately, I was able to catch this on TV, and didn't waste my queue space. Sadly the whole movie is just so dull. I think had they had different actors, better direction, and a better script, we'd see some great reviews here. The relationship between the two characters was so unlikely and unbelievable. I wouldn't recommend this to others. There are so may other romances that are much better.

My Left Eye Sees Ghosts

This is a great romantic Comedy. The two main characters totally play well off one another. The dialog is funny. The story is unique. The supporting characters are over the top, which I think is somewhat typical with Hong Kong cinema. Overall a good movie that I would recommend if you'd like to try foreign films. And it is about horrific as Ghostbusters...so the synopsis isn't correct.

Princess of Thieves

Princess of Thieves is a delightful romp through Sherwood Forrest. A lovely backdrop for Gwyn (Keira Knightley), the daughter of Robin Hood, who grew up protected but away from her famous father. Needless to say as she comes into maturity her relationship with her father is certainly lacking, and they are not close. But when he finds himself locked up by the rotten prince John, Gwyn takes it upon herself to save the father she hopes to gain respect from. The quest is daunting but finds some unlikely allies along her journey. It is a good story with mild amounts of action and familiar characters. It is suitable for all ages. Great for that family film night.

Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: Season 1

For me, this DVD series served it's purpose. I found it to be a satisfying and very educational series. I would recommend this to other dog owners if for nothing else to at least understand dogs in a different way. Cesar Millan has really figured out what makes dogs tick psychologically and is doing a lot to save these people and their dogs. Each episode features different dogs with different issues. It was easy to "take away" something from each episode to learn something about myself and my dogs. With some work, we are now on our way to having a better relationship.

The Biggest Loser: Power Sculpt

I am an average woman, who enjoys exercising; I currently have a exercise routine but I thought I'd add this to "change it up" a bit. I have veiwed a lot of exercise videos and I must say that I find that this was good, instructional, and challenging. The format has simple choreography and the dvd menu is interactive so you can increase your workout time and/or difficulty level. I feel that a beginner could easily start with this and work their way to a higher fitness status. As for someone with a higher fitness level, I feel they could also benefit from this as well, by using heavier weights, lunging/squatting deeper, etc. The people in this video are real people working towards their goal. So it is not intimidating to see these average people (men and women) working right along with you, receiving corrections on their form, just like if you were in a real class together. I think to acheive ultimate results, one would have to buy this video, which I think I'll do!

How Clean Is Your House?

I have enjoyed the British version on BBC America for a while now and was tivo-ing until they ran out of episodes that I hadn't seen. So, I was real interested to see this come out. I must say-Very enjoyable! They follow the same routine, which never gets old. Find a filthy sty, parade around in it pointing out the gloriest of the gore, then BERATING the homeowner! It's perfectly hilarious! They give a lot of helpful tips on cleaning that I have tried around my place that really work. As a former maid, it gives me a sense of satisfaction to see the places get cleaned up and the homeowner retrained properly.

The Abyss

This is one of those movies that you can enjoy again and again and with your mate. I never get tired of it. It has a lot of *stuff* going on: romance, drama, action, fantasy and even a bit of humor. A true 5 star movie that hasn't lost its' appeal. It will make you a believer-in a lot of things!

Sahara

I must say that I had very low expectations going in to this. And for some unknown reason I can't say that I am a fan of Matthew McConaughey. He does not do it for me. However, I like Steve Zahn-he has actually done a quite enjoyable range of films. That being said, Sahara was just alright for me. I swear I should make a new list entitled *Un-frickin'-believable Action*. I will not watch again; I will not recommend to friends. 3 stars for Steve and his funny lines only.

Disorganized Crime

One of my favorites from the 80's-I must have watched this movie 20 times. My parents had taped it on vhs from HBO back in the day. This movie gets rolling along right away and twists and turns around so hilariously. You're rooting for the bad guys and laughing at all their quirks. A very clever comedy with a lot of familiar faces that I'd recommend if you haven't seen it.

The Poseidon Adventure

I felt that the actors gave very passionate performances. Right from the start the story,the acting, etc hooked me and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I found myself internally rooting for these peoples' survival. I always thought Gene Hackman was a good actor-but this was brilliant. A definite Classic not to be missed.

The Aristocats

Definitley a favorite from my childhood. There were a couple from the late sixties early seventies that were in my opinion Disney's finest. I have happily played this for my kids. My youngest is obsessed with cats-so this totally works for her. The songs are great as well as all the zany characters they have intertwined in the story: from the villianous butler, the smooth talkin' hero tom cat, the vacationing geese, and the *attack* dogs. Hilarious dialog is quick paced. I highly recommend this one for multiple viewings. Another I recommend is Robinhood-you'll recognize a few of the same voices!

Greenfingers

A unique pairing of subjects: Jailbirds and gardening! Clive Owen is delish in this playing a felon who has a nack at gardening. Helen Mirren plays a British Martha Stewart type gardening expert. And David Kelly turns in a good performance as well as the "Jimminy Cricket Mentor" for Clive Owen's character. There are lots of funny and touching moments-very relatable, believe it or not.

The Graduate

Another "classic" that was done all at the right time in history. The initial awkwardness of Ben and the neediness of Mrs. Robinson was showcased well here. I am satisfied with everyone's performance and think this movie shouldn't be missed. Not much of a fan of Simon and Garfunkle but it works really well here.

Heaven Can Wait

I was surprised to find this movie so enjoyable. Even though it is older, it is funny and doesn't feel too dated. I wouldn't consider it a total sports movie, but it is a good subplot. The more recent Down to Earth is also good. But this was tame enough to let our children remain in the room.

Kundun

I didn't care that this film was made by Martin Scorsese. A lot of people seemed to be impressed (or surprised?)with that. Maybe because this shows he is not a one-trick pony, I don't know. I am impressed with the beauty of this film; the delicate portrayal of the 14th Dalai Lama. It is a welcome break from action packed films I have seen lately. (don't get me wrong-love those films, too!) The cinematography is brilliant and is seen through an artists' point of view.(good job, Marty) Wonderful film, I would definetly recommend it to others.

Maid in Manhattan

This movie is a good movie, a recycled story-yes, but pretty good for entertainment sake. Lighthearted, fun, princess for a day that wins the guy's heart even though I am not who you think I am -type movie. If you enjoyed Everafter:A Cinderella Story (my FAV) then this will be enjoyable as well. Another like this is the recent Last Holiday with Queen Latifa and of course Pretty Woman (who didn't like that movie?!).

Urban Cowboy

I saw this for the first time recently. WOW!!! I was amazed that I loved it so. I have always been a fan of both John Travolta and Debra Winger. They don't disapoint here. Their fast romance and premmature break up is very reminisant of many first romances. I honestly don't think this movie could have been made at any other time in history; it was timed perfectly. The classic country western music brang back so many memories of my parents-they dressed just like that and listened to those artists at that time! I was shocked the way I knew the lyrics to all these songs from my childhood (as country is not my favorite music genre). I would definitely see this again and recommend it to others.

Short Cuts

A strange, looonngg movie about what seems like random people's lives. They all are connected in some way, like the six degrees of seperation type thing. But instead of ordinary people(even though they tried to make them out to be ordinary, but I do not know a single person that is remotely like any of the characters)They are quirky, even on the brink of disturbed persons. If you must see it, go ahead. Maybe for those who LOVE Robert Altman's direction, this will excite.

Once Upon a Crime

Having seen this only recently I feared that this movie would feel dated. Besides hairdos and attire I could not have been more wrong. This is a very funny movie. Follow this derelict bunch of characters as they cross paths on their respective vacations in Monte Carlo. A murder mystery ensues and the chaos begins. If you liked Clue, you may enjoy this.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Very peculiar to call this a comedy. I never laughed once. It was more dramatic with a bit of some documentary flair thrown in. It was a serious movie at times, a love story in other moments and a suspenseful thriller. This poor movie didn't know what it was. If Drew Barrymore hadn't been in it, I'd probably never have watched. My three stars are for her, and Julia Roberts' cameo.

Bandidas

I thought this was every bit as good as Thelma and Louise and the Mask of Zorro. These sexy ladies are real heros in a male dominated time period. Dwight Yoakam is a great villian. Lot's of action, cute humor, overall good movie. I would watch this again. In fact, I'll show it to my husband!

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

For me, this got old, fast. In the begining, I thought I could go along with Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke, because admittedly he was pretty funny. But the whole movie is one long drug induced, vomit fest that doesn't seem to go anywhere plot-wise. And maybe that's the point, but I didn't enjoy the movie as a whole.

A Prairie Home Companion

This definitley gets tossed in my Snooze-fest list. I feel like I aged 10 years watching this film...I could actually feel the wrinkles reproducing on my face. I wanted to like this so I tortured myself to watch because of the big named stars. My husband finally convinced me to give up the struggle. So in summary, this movie isn't for everyone, and just because there are big named stars in it, doesn't mean anything!

Leslie Sansone: Walk Away the Pounds: Walk & Kick

I would really recommend this for someone who is just starting a fitness routine and isn't interested in complicated choregraphy. This quick 30 minute routine is great for someone who doesn't have a lot of time either. I was able to increase my own intesity which is good. I would probably do this again. As far as annoying conversation, she is a bit chatty but nothing like Denise Austin.

Wild Hogs

An OK movie, my complaint is with the script. It wasn't real clear to me how these "friends" were friends in the first place. I am also confused as to why some of the best actors of our time were given lines like these. The script was not to the caliper of these actors. An example is the cartoon-like bully they made Ray Liotta's character out to be. It is an ok movie, but believe me, you won't buy into the story at all. And if I had never seen it, I would have missed nothing.

Forbidden City Cop

Unfortunately, not as well done as other Stephen Chow films. If you are a huge fan and are determined to see everything he has ever done, you'll watch anyways.

Hot Rod

Very painful to watch. This movie just isn't very good. After 13 minutes into it my husband, who tolerates these types of films far better than I, was ready to shut it off. For some reason we left it going, and I think we laughed only once. I think this movie was trying to be a cross between Jackass and Napoleon Dynamite all done in the style of a SNL skit gone way too long. We had higher hopes for this and unfortunately feel dumber for having watched!

Shaun of the Dead

I do NOT like Horror flims. I avoid them. But this is something else entirely. We laughed so much at all the humorous dialog. The pacing was fast and the zombies were terrific. It was not at all scary so if you want that, queue something else. But this is definitley something I'd watch again.

The Yards

Total snooze fest. I chose it based on the great cast and good summary. It is not very good. It is boring. All the scenes are shot in the dark. A lot of potential was lost here. I am sorry, because I wanted to like it.

Little Britain: Series 1

Sick! Depraved! Absolutely Hilarious! If you like Ab Fab, Monty Python or Kids in the Hall, you'll love these guys! Beautiflly British!

Valley of the Dolls

This was ok. The acting is spotty and the music dated. But the story wasn't half bad. There is a fight scene that's worth watching! Ironically, the ladies of Hollywood today seem to be identifying well with these characters (listen up: Britney, Lindsay, Paris)!

Wedding Crashers

This could have been a 5 star movie, had they kept the sap out of it. Half way through they get all sappy and serious and it detracts from the original idea. It's funny, it just takes a little longer than you'll want.

Delta Farce

We knew right away, before putting this in the player, that it was going to be STOOPID. Planning for that and laughing at it's stupidity was part of the fun. My Hubbie loved it, but he is not hard to amuse. Fart jokes, guns, and Larry the cable guy-what more can you ask for? If you have any doubts and don't want to waste your time, queue something else.

The Story of the Weeping Camel

This movie is a little slow, but don't let that discourge you. I felt like I had this rare opportunity to see a culture very different than mine but see that we share similar values. I appreciated that the cameras did not seem intrusive to these people's and animals lives. A great movie with fabulous messages! If you liked the Whale Rider you may like this too!

The World's Fastest Indian

Sir Anthony Hopkins genuine performance made me feel like I knew this man. He remined me of some of my male family members. This is the true story of a determined old timer from New Zealand with a dream to break the land speed record with his classic, home-built motorcycle in the USA. This man was truly a genuis in the mechanical sense. This inspiring tale about a guy who may seem a bit naive, but simply the smartest guy in the room, blows away all his competition in true underdog fashion. This is one of my favorite movies. Another similar movie you may enjoy is October Sky.

Rabbit-Proof Fence

As a mother, my heart broke watching this story. I was not previously aware of the practices applied by the Austrailian government in regards to their Mulato population. It is defitely a human tragedy story represented here. But that's not all. The determination and bravery of the little girls in this movie as they make their way back to their mothers is amazing and inspiring. My tears were for their tribulations and their triumph. Be advised: keep the kleenex handy!!

Junebug

This movie left me confused. The premise is that a southern man who is no longer living in his home town and doesn't visit much brings his new wife down to visit his family for the first time, in a trip in conjunction with his wife trying to secure a local artists' work for her gallery back home. The family really doesn't embrace the new wife for some unknown reason. They are individually angry, with the brother being the worst. The only one who just accepts the new wife right away is is the brother's wife, an outsider herself. I think they were trying to show that this was an everyday family with problems just like everbody else, but they just weren't likable and it didn't make sense why they treated the new wife the way they did.

The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection

I love these cartoons! They are perfect. They blend the right amount of comedy and virtually no annoying dialog (something I hate about modern cartoons- the characters talk incessantly). You are captivated by the action and how pure the story lines are. My father loves these and my little children love them, so 3 generations are happy!

Cool Runnings

I haven't seen this in years, but I based my rating on the time that I did because I really loved it when it came out. It was so inspiring as based on a true story and humorous in all the right places. John Candy was someone I enjoyed and I miss his big personality in todys movies. I think it will be one that I will share with my children.

I Like Killing Flies

Veiwed from my computer, love that feature! Ok, this documentary was just ok for me. I have a desire to learn something from documentary when I watch them. And I learned that the title is just strange, and not the focus. The subject matter is only on the verge of interesting. Basically this doc chronicles a small cafe owner's family and their day to day life in their tiny cafe and then they get to move to a larger location. Oh...and the Chef/owner is a pain in the rear. I learned that because I am not a regular, I wouldn't be welcome to eat at their establishment. I don't think I'd really want to any how.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?: Special Edition

The only reason I did not like this movie, was that I was not open enough to the concept of live action/animation blended together. I could not accept it, even though I was a preteen in '88 when I saw it. I would not watch it today either. And I love animation. If you want to see the movie because it was one of the first of it's kind, fine. And if you liked the Mask, you'd like this.

All About Eve

It's hard to rate classic movies. I did like it, the acting was good. I just feel that you'd better be into classic movies to begin with. They sometimes can be dialog heavy and some of the dialog, of course, is geared to the film making time period. I don't want to sound negative here. I just find myself having to really be in the mood to watch one. As for All About Eve, I think my old boss, who was also a very manipulative female, must have watched this in her younger years to sharpen her teeth and claws!

Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat

WOW! I am definitely in the minority here! One big complaint with others is it is not like the book, well if it was, the movie would have been five minutes long. I thought it was funny; my kids thought it was funny.

The Pirate Movie

Ugh! I don't honestly know who'd like this. It really isn't for kids-too much inuendo. It is way corny. So if you like bad acting, a wacky storyline and random animation this may be for you. The dialog is sooo bad, the acting, the lip-syncing (oh yes-lipsyncing)all bad bad bad. A little reminiscent of the Robinhood Men in Tights bad, how time has not done any favors to it...

Waking Up in Reno

This movie could have been better. I pondered whether I liked it or not. About half way through this light hearted comedy about friends on a road trip to Reno, for a long needed vacation, got pretty serious, pretty fast. I had a hard time relating to the characters. This is a step up from "Daddy and Them" but only a small step.

Amores Perros

I could not get passed the dogs fighting or the dead dogs in a lot of the scenes. Most of the character's were completely unlikable. I am not sure why I chose this at all. Don't be fooled about the summary, they don't tell you about the seedy characters and the vicious underworld of dog fighting, ugh! No more like that, thanks.

The Godfather: Part III

I now understand why folks didn't like this as much. I think that because The Godfather II was SO good that this felt like it lost it's edge by the time this one was made. I agree with some other reviewers regarding Ms. Coppola's acting "style"- there wasn't a lot of energy from her, it seemed. Andy Garcia breathes a lot of life into this picture, and Pacino as Michael seems to be drifting off (in a natural way). I am glad to have seen this movie though, it wrapped up everything about the Corleone family. The three movies watched in order made for some enjoyable viewing.

Raise the Red Lantern

Like few, I was also disapointed in this film. As someone who enjoys foreign films, I felt this was slow and I could not appreiciate the constant lingering shots of the rooftops of their commune. They dragged out what could have been a shorter yet still beautiful film. The character's actions were not real clear to me and I got more info from reading the summary on the DVD sleeve. Bummer too, because I have had this in my queue for over a year, waiting for it to come back out on video.

The Witches

First of all, I don't feel that this movie is well suited for little ones. The witches' appearances are a little on the scary side for them. The older bunch, say over 10 years old may find this interesting. The story is about a small boy who uncovers the plans of the witches to do away with all children of Britain by turning them into mice. He is caught by the witch conference attendees and turned into a mouse. A very brave mouse at that. With the help of his grandmother, he cooks up a scheme of his own! Anjelica Houston is delishiously evil as the grand witch.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

A Christmas classic, an absolutely must-see movie. They played this on tv every December when I was a kid, along with Frosty the Snowman. It's hard to criticize something beloved from childhood. It's neat to see the stop-action-claymation of the 60's.

Employee of the Month

From all the reveiws here you'd think this was a real stinker. I didn't think this was too bad of a movie. It just may not be for everyone. So, who is it for? Let's see...well there are some funny one-liners. Steve Zahn plays a great sleaze ball. Matt Dillion and Christina Applegate seem well paired in this. There are lots of twists that you don't expect and I certainly didn't see them coming. I knew very little about what was about to happen and still enjoyed it. It's violent, betraying and interestingly enough, a ride on the Karma Wheel. Try it, you may like it.

Man of La Mancha

Even without knowing it you can just tell that this was meant for the stage. The actors are great, but it doesn't translate as well on screen compared to a live production. I tried to imagine it on stage, but it felt flat. I felt confused about much of it, meaning either I need to brush up on history or the story just wasn't that good. How pretty Sofia Loren looks though, and they've even got her dressed in drab.

The Three Lives of Thomasina

I remeber this fondly from my childhood. It held interest for my daughter (age 6), who loves cats. But this movie, like all Disney's fare, has a message about love, compassion and understanding. If you liked Chitti Chitti Bang Bang or Pollyanna, check this out.

Heavy Metal 2000

Do not rent this! It is BAD! The non-existant plot combined with horrible animation is a giant time waster! Stick to the original. I will never get that time back, but you, dear reader can save yourself and your queue. don't do it...don't even think "well, how bad can it be?". I wish I could give it negative stars for this crap-tastic production!

New Rose Hotel

I couldn't finish this one. So, Is it fair that I rate it? I dunno, maybe as a warning for others. It is boring! A lot of it is darkly shot; what, were there no lighting people available? The whole movie seems to be a film students'. I watched for Christopher Walken, which is always a toss up, he seems to do ANYTHING. I caught it on cable so no wasted queue space.

U.S. Marshals

eh...It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I don't want to pick at it's flaws, so I will just say it is entertaining and it served it's purpose. Queue it if you like lots of adventure, or you like TLJ being TLJ.

River of No Return

I am in the minority here when I say that this movie wasn't that good. I am a Marilyn Monroe fan and when they've got her dolled up, she is definitely stunning even though her singing is not that good. But for the rest of it I could not stand the hair piece they put on her. I disagree with some other reveiwers here regarding the main characters chemistry, I just didn't see it; the one time Matt tries to get intimate with Kay, she's fightin' him off like she would a bear. He has more chemistry with the wild cat he was tumbling around with, or the woodsman he was fighting... It is so hard to rate classics as they usually feel really dated. This a s a period peice set in the Gold rush wasn't too bad (minus the hair)It's just a bit corny. I really wanted to like it!

Fairy Tale: A True Story

A great family movie. The character's are portrayed in a way that there is a cohesiveness between children, adult and fantasy world. A lovely tale, based on a true story, about two cousins and their belief and discovery of fairies in their yard. Their innocent intentions leads them to photograph the fairies to cheer up the mom. Their discovery sparks a lot of controversy within their community and the idea of the fairies delight a few famous people. The story was a neat one and I would recommend this if you liked "Finding Neverland".

The Guardian

Although my review will just get lost in the shuffle, I thought I might add my 2 cents. I am a fan of Kevin Costner, and he doesn't disapoint me here. I was pleasantly surprised about Ashton Kutcher's great performance. The subject matter was unique and enjoyable. It has a lot of what I was looking for: suspense, drama and romance. If you like that plus some heroic action, then queue it up!

Shrek the Third

First off, we are a very easy to please family. This was not the best effort of the shrek crew! Now, there were a few laughs, but too few and far between. I felt that the first two movies were great, still are,i nfact the DVD's are played frequently at our house, but I don't think we'll even buy this third one. I really wish that I would have liked it more.

Willow

This has always had a special place in my heart. I recently got this for my family to veiw. We all enjoyed the fantasy and the seemingly impossible task accomplished by the most unlikely of heros. It is a great magical, fantasy world you are invited into.

Grand Theft Parsons

ooh it is not good. I didn't know Graham Parsons before, and don't know much about him after this movie. Wow, the acting isn't good, the dialog slow and boring, the story is even hard to believe even though it is recorded fact! The script was obviously weak. I am only sorry I wasted my time. Don't be sorry too! Queue any thing else!

Maximum Overdrive

I remember seeing this in theaters; I was a teenager with defintely low expectations, but none the less, a fan of Stephen King and Emilio Estevez. So, at the time it was a must see. I am sure if I saw it now I wouldn't like it...but if you like 80's movies or "B" movies, along with some cheesy death scenes, you may like this!

Easy Rider

This movie, I am sure shocked people when it came out in 1969. It sure seems stale today. I get the feel that it was made to impress those who would be impressed by it and shock the conservatives with it's hippie additudes and drug life style. The characters' drug use throughout the movie is really just an extention of their personnas. The tale of two travellers takes them across the country, encountering many people and walks of life, as they make their way to New Orleans. I just didn't really like it and I don't feel that it is a "classic". If you haven't seen it, you're not missing much.

Zoom: Academy for Superheroes

This movie is a lot like along the lines of the Spy Kid series, and even movies like Sky High and the Incredibles. Granted, it's mainly a kids movie but our family enjoyed it together and that was the point. Tim Allen is a great comic and was fun to watch here. Courtney Cox was fun, too. All in all, an enjoyable movie for the whole family full of make-believe and super heros! Give it a shot; it's really not that bad!

Tsotsi

Intense character development, interesting plot. Basically, a thug re-examines his actions after he has carjacked a woman and unknowingly stole her infant son. The thug, Tsotsi, has real emotional issues that he has to work out as he now is responsible for the care of the child and his choices between right and wrong drastically change. A very human look at another's point of view.

The Legend of Drunken Master

I am no kung fu expert but the fight scenes in this movie are amazing. They are choregraphed much like gracefull, flawless dances. Jackie Chan is a witty delight. If you liked Kung Fu Hustle, or Shaolin Soccer, you will probably enjoy this.

Kinky Boots

A few days later and I am still thinking of this movie! Based on a true story, a man inherits a shoe factory in conservative north England and is struggling to save the outdated product. His chance encounter with Lola, a preformer and Drag Queen, starts him on a path to save the factory and it's workers. He and Lola design and produce boots/shoes for men in Drag. It's very much a fish-out-of-water flick. Delightful movie! Full of heart! 5 stars.

Bend It Like Beckham

I regret not seeing this sooner! I had toyed with the idea of watching this, but had one hang up, I am not a fan of soccer. Well it has much more than that! This movie is great. Great story, great actors, full of culture and friendship. It is the story of Jess and her struggle with being accepted by her traditional Indian family. Her dreams of being a soccer star are being squashed by her parents preconceived beliefs that "Indian girls do not play soccer!" A bit predictable, but a very enjoyable journey.

Christmas with the Kranks

Very Disapointing! I am a huge fan of both Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. But this movie just did not do it for me. I felt like these two had owed a big favor to someone and got stuck with these roles! The laughs were nonexistant and the story is a bit of a stinker!

The Mask of Zorro

Quick paced, quick witted! Loaded with action, Anthony Hopkins is really great, in addition to Antonio Banderas. I was surprised that it was as enjoyable as it was.

The Black Stallion

A good movie, not loaded down with lots of unecessary dialog. The movie is beautifully shot. If you have not seen this, but have seen Dreamer or Seabiscuit, you may like this as well.

21 Grams

First of all, the acting was superb. I really enjoyed that part. The story is bleak and hopeless, not unlike other films, so that didn't put me off, too much. But what got to me was the complicated way they string the story. It is confusing for the first 30 minutes (or more) and I wasn't sure how the characters related to one another. I watched with no interruption but kept thinking I was missing something. I would have liked it more had they told the story in the chronological order; I understand that it is more unique if told in a different manner, I get that, I just didn't enjoy it that way as much.

A Life Less Ordinary

A strange little movie, that I thought was a Coen bros film. It has that look and feel to it. My only suggestion is to watch all the way through, I stopped and started this one a couple of times and wound up confused (my fault, really) But 3 stars from me, mostly for Ewan McGregor, who is really amazing, and Holly Hunter who has had me captivated since the Piano.

The Great Ships: The Pirate Ships

BORING, they keep using the same unsolved mysteries style production clips over and over again. Blah! I even like history, but I didnt enjoy this that much. You may have to really LOVE pirates or something to like this.

Stranger than Fiction

This movie is unlike any movies I have seen, so it merits positive reviews from me, as it is unique and original. The acting by Will Farrel is good, but I think anyone could have played his character. (His character was just ok for me) He has some funny lines, does not get naked like other films. And then there is Emma Thompson, who I think is brilliant, as the writing challenged author/narrator of the story. I dont want to give anything away plot wise, but I think that this was a pretty good movie and if you are patient and open-minded to give it a chance then Great! Enjoy!

Waiting...

I was warned about the crudeness of this film. It was definitely crude. I let myself just watch and chuckle at some of the stuff. I would not recommend this to my friends, though. It was just ok. I will continue to be nice to wait people though, just in case :).

View from the Top

Not a bad little satire. I had a couple of laughs (Mike Meyers STEALS the show, watch for him if nothing else!) What was nice was to see Gwyneth Paltrow play someone like this character. This is a far cry from Shakespeare in Love, which is fine.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

I originally saw this in the theater when it came out. I always liked it and thought that my kids might like it, and since it is a PG rated film, we could veiw it as a family. They did enjoy it and surprisingly I enjoyed it just as much as I did way back then!

Man of the House

Surprisingly this was not too bad. I liked TLJ's character and how he was such a sharp contrast to the girls he is watching. The gilrs and him come to a certain understanding about eachother and the girls even help him fix his relationship with his own daughter. There are a few laughs. Enjoyable!

The Station Agent

The characters in this film are lonely, troubled souls, and as they are going through the motions of living, none of them are truly living until they keep crossing paths and actually form bonds with eachother and even start caring for one another. The writer shows you the veiwer a rare side of someone else. An enjoyable movie, my only gripe is that it ends a bit abruptly, as if the writer or director ran out of stuff. I was curious as to what was going to happen next with these characters. Great casting, by the way.

Run Lola Run

Interesting in a techno-ground-hog-day sort of way. If you have nothing else to do...queue it up. I liked it alright, wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others...but it is not too long. The main character, Lola, runs the whole time. I wonder if the actress lost weight filming this...

Lords of Dogtown

Just saw this one again on TV, definitely five stars. I don't believe you have to like skating to enjoy this. I am not a skater. I did however grow up in So. Cal in the 70's and 80's when skating was HOT. This movie highlights a special time in these character's lives and I wound up feeling a great connection to the characters in this movie. If you liked the Outsiders you may like this.

Taxi

Unfortunately, this movie was a bit of a trainwreck. I spent most of the time wishing for it to be over and there was far too few ha ha moments. I am easily amused, but could not give this three stars. Totally unrealistic, especially Fallon's idiot cop performance, the bank robbers being these Brazilian models, that Queen latifah's taxi converts to "super car" with a couple of switches...If there is nothing else to watch, go ahead rent it, but do not pick this if you already have good stuff in your queue.

SherryBaby

You come into this characters life(Sherry, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) at a real crucial time. She is leaving prison and is on real shaky ground trying to re-establish life on the outside with her extended family and most importantly her daughter. This movie has no real beginning and no real ending. It was much like watching a reality show. A sad, intimate and raw one. But none the less, very real. The tragedy of addiction has touched almost everyones lives and many can honestly say they know a Sherry.

Dogtown and Z-Boys

A pretty good documentary. Not your typical doc. I liked it though I felt a little disconnected to it. I think this documentary would be a good companion to the Lords of Dogtown, a movie I thoroughly enjoyed.

Fight Club

Ok, at first I admit I wanted to turn this movie off. I thought it was just too brutal, annoying, nothing I could relate to, etc. But I gave it a chance and I suggest that anyone who views it to watch to the end, you'll see why and it all will make sense! I didn't see it coming and I liked that.

First Knight

Ok, it's not the movies fault that I was already tired when I popped this into the player, but it was hard not to doze off during parts. This movie felt like a "made for TV" movie (that's not necessarily a bad thing if you are into that sort of thing). Richard Gere's performance didn't bug me so much as some other reviews. I know it's just a story, but what lost me on this is after the first Guinevere rescue Lancelot makes ( and I am talking 10 minutes into the movie and ONE! minute after their meeting) he's kissing her and telling her how beautiful she is. No lead up, weak flirtation between them, no tension, no classic romance stuff. The whole thing fizzles like a deflating balloon before it is even blown up.

Sleepy Hollow

Probably the most spookiest and goriest of Tim Burton's movies. I guess I should have paid heed to the rating but I was thinking "it's Tim Burton, he's kooky, an artist really, not a horror guy". Well, it reminds me of The Brothers Grimm movie, so if you like that you may like this one. I thought some of the scenery scenes were beautiful, the colors very striking mixed with black and white. I agree with one other reveiwer about the "wooden" acting. And I was a bit disapointed with Christina Ricci's (who is usally great) performance. Oh well, I don't have to watch it again.

Let's Make Love

Based on some other reviews here, I was wondering if I'd enjoy this movie at all and considered taking it out of my queue. I am glad I did not. It is a light-hearted romantic comedy about a rich man pretending to be a regular Joe (as a struggling actor) just to capture the heart of the main actress in a off-broadway performance with his likeness being portrayed. He uses every trick in the book to get her to notice him. Even using real famous people to sharpen his skills (Crosby, Berle,kelly). It is a typical early 60's movie/musical alright (brightly colored, songs and dance, although some I fast forwarded on - you get the overall point)It's not the comdey that Some Like It Hot was, but if you are a fan of Marilyn Monroe you will probably enjoy this film.

Nacho Libre

What can I say about this one...We were disapointed to say the least. We have come to expect consistantly entertaining work from Jack Black. The whole time this drivel was on we were wondering why he'd even choose this script and would it had been made without him. There were only instances of humor, subtle words or tone but I was so bored that it didn't redeem it for me. I was not entertained. I should have paid heed to other bad reviews.

Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector

First of all, be a Larry the Cable Guy fan before viewing. If you enjoy his stand up routines, you'll probably enjoy this. If you have never seen his routines, do yourself a favor and check out the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. This movie is no worse than the Pet Detective movies. This is no academy award winner, but my husband and I enjoyed it. (my Husband LOVED it, he gives it five stars)

3000 Miles to Graceland

This one is like a cross between True Romance (with Christian Slater, which I liked a lot) and A Perfect World (with Kevin Costner, which I also liked) This movie, however was going in a lot of different directions all at the same time, which wasn't all that interesting. Kurt Russel is not bad in this and is probably the only real likable one in the bunch. It's disapointing, really, that all the great actors in this (and there's a bunch, all fairly sucessfull) couldn't pull it all together. Bummer script about a heist gone awry and then all the bad guys double cross one another over and over again (like a "money tug-o-war"), and oh yeah, there's a romance along the way! I won't bother ranting about all the non-believable action/adventure, because it is "just" a movie. It's just not a very good one.

Alfie

Jude Law is a delightful actor to watch. He's attractive, charming, and believable. This movie follows "Alfie", a confirmed bachelor and self-professed cad, in his most intimate adventures- conquering the female species! As the movie progesses, with Alfie speaking directly to the viewer, he starts to feel and see things differently. He begins to question his intentions in life. One can only outrun loneliness for so long. In Alfie's case, after some misteps, loneliness indeed catches him. But in the grand scheme of things, there is always HOPE. This movie has much to say and I am glad I listened!

In Good Company

This movie was billed as a comedy, but it did not have me laughing much. This is more of a drama-dy. Basically because of the strong cast, I had high expectations. I was disapointed in the whole feeling of the film. There were some ha ha moments but nothing like it could have been. HOLLYWOOD! It's ok to put out dramas but call them that!

Stonehenge

The subject matter, Stonehenge, is fasinating. So, I am having a hard time rating this documentary. It was informative, for the most part. It was a lot of people (experts) just speculating how it was built and how it was used. The trouble is there is little known fact about Stonehenge's origin and my questions were left unanswered. But perhaps our current civilization will never know. This documentary is only 50 minutes long so I don't feel that I wasted any time. FYI: The DVD is simple and has no special features.

The Pink Panther

I was undecided on 4 or 3 stars. Yes, it was predictable. But all in all, it wasn't that bad. The bumbling inspector played by Steve Martin was cute, and funny. The only cast member I was disappointed with was Kevin Kline. Again, I did not go into this movie thinking that it was going to be anything but a few minutes of entertainment with the familiarity of an old icon (pink panther). Like a lot of the other recent re-hashes of stories (for example, Herbie: fully loaded, which I thought was good) this modern Pink Panther served it's purpose and entertained me. 3.5 stars!

Ghost World

I cannot say that I'd watch this movie again, nor would I recommend it to a friend. This film left me with a lot of unanswered questions. The characters seem to mention people and/or situations that need background information, but they don't give you, the veiwer, any info. I felt like I had to assume some things. The two girls are somewhat hopeless. As outcasts (although they seem to revel in being just that, as they do not relate to their peers)they are entering their future purely by existing as opposed to making goals, obtaining them, etc. I think that this may appeal to some folks as maybe they can see themselves in the characters. I think that this movie really is about the relationships formed, when people aren't really trying. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The movie WASN'T a complete waste of my time and Steve Buscemi was worth it to watch.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

There is definitly room for this movie along with Willy Wonka. I loved this movie just as much as the classic. Tim Burton is always so colorful and he doesn't disapoint here. I laughed at this, and enjoyed Depp's character (as Willy)very much. My suggestion regarding the classic Willy Wonka and this generation's Charlie is to see them both. Both are very enjoyable and are perfectly acceptable in their own right.

Kung Fu Hustle

This movie was so fun. It was so different than American films. I thought the characters were outrageously funny. And just when you think it can't get any more over the top, they out do themselves again. Great entertainment. I would seriously put this up there with Kill Bill (1&2)on my list of favorites.

Isn't She Great

This movie was hard to rate. I am really teetering on 2 stars (we need a 2 and a half for sort of liked it)First, let me start off with the fact that I was not yet born at the height of Jacqueline Susann's fame. So not knowing much about the real life woman, I was completely turned off by the character in the film. At first, I found her unlikable, then it dawned on me that this may have been how Susann really was. The actors were good. Stockard Channing, along with Nathan Lane were good. I think that the script is what is not working here. I think this movie, with a complete overhaul of the script as a drama, could have had more positive reviews. As it stands, it is hard to get through especially at first (the conversation with the trees). I was grateful that it was only just over an hour and a half. But as I think about it, and how Jacqueline lived, she probably would have loved this film. If you are a fan of hers, it may be worth a viewing. However, if you are like me and just got the movie because of who was in it you may not enjoy it. Flip a coin then.

Daddy and Them

I could not stand this movie. The ONLY saving grace was Andy Griffith. Other than him the whole movie was a boring, no plot having, waste of my time! The main characters played by Laura Dern and Billy Bob fight (argue) constantly about his past relationship with her sister and every (and I mean EVERY) conversation they have in this movie leads to the same cursing fight. It's not so much about hicks and their family, but I couldn't say what it was about. And those are the highlights of this pointless flick. Save your self, don't bother checking it out!

Beetlejuice

Any time I catch this colorful gem on tv, I stay tuned. I saw it in the theaters when it came out, and has always stuck with me. This is one of those classics (Because of Micheal Keaton's Performance)that I have enjoyed for years. If you have never seen this, you may think it is pretty dumb. It is not at all serious, it has great music, the characters are fun (Winona Ryder is young and so much the dramatic teenager) See it with an open mind, then decide.

The Indian in the Cupboard

We watched this one as a family and I can say this movie was just ok. I have read the book and so has my 8-yr old daughter and the story follows the book somewhat, but some of the more enjoyable details are left out. For instance, the story (in the book)takes place in England; whereas in the movie the family is in New York. I can't put my finger on it, but it almost felt like something was missing. Perhaps the casting was off. The acting by the mother and the Indian was not very good. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend the book, not the movie. Fortunately, the movie isn't very long (although it does drag a bit which makes it feel longer).l

House of Sand and Fog

I had read this book and it is the first time I can actually say I enjoyed the movie better! I was angry at the end of the book. But going into this movie, knowing what I knew, it was helpful. This story is not happy, for anyone involved. All the actors' performances were good. But for me, Ben Kingsley was a shining star in this. His performance was extermely well done. The awards given were deserved. This movie will stay in your memory for along time.

October Sky

Based on a true story, October Sky is for anyone who has ever had dreams bigger than themselves, have their dreams dashed, then rekindled again. The story takes you on a journey of a boy who is realizing his biggest dream and the struggles he must go through to make it happen. A great inspiration for all of us! Terrific acting, a movie a whole family can watch, would recommend to anyone!5+ stars!

The Honeymooners

I am open to lots of movies, and comedies are always a safe bet with me. I like Cedric the Entertainer,as he is usually very funny. But, I did not enjoy this movie. Infact, I had to turn it off. I don't know how it ended (not like I couldn't figure it out, very predictable)and it's not like I cared how it ended anyhow. That is how disconnected I was with this one. The skits seemed forced, along with the acting, like the direction maybe was bad. I don't know, but don't waste your time with this. I enjoyed "Are we there Yet?" much more and would recommend instead of "honeymooners".

The Motorcycle Diaries

The "political conversion" of Che Guevara aside, this film was very enjoyable. The characters have a lot of likability about them, and the dialogue feels natural. I had a good time with this movie and my only regret is that I had not seen it sooner.

The Bicycle Thief

I wanted to like this movie. I gave it 2 stars because I felt that the whole thing was anticlimatic. It brings you to a point where you as the veiwer expect more from the ending. I get the toil of the hardships the main character endures, but I just felt that the movie could have continued. I was left just wondering "what happened next?" and personally I am not a fan of that.

Pootie Tang

This is one of those love or hate it films, as evident to the reviews here. I went into the viewing of this movie with a very open mind based on those reviews. I must say that my husband and I laughed and laughed at this one! I don't feel that I wasted my time. It has it's over-the-top moments, funniest one-liners and the wildest whippin' belt ever! My advise: Don't take it too seriously, it's not that kind of movie.

The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl

I rated this movie with 3 stars mainly for my children. I took five 8 year olds to see this film while it was in the theaters. Honestly, I can say I was bored, however the kids were soooo into it as the group I had, talked and talked about how much they loved it on the ride home. There are a lot of things going on in this film for an adult to find it believable. But I was impressed with the overall message or "moral of the story". Kids like to see their peers as "heros" and there is a lot of that here. Get it for your kids, they'll love it. Rent Spy Kids if you want to watch something with your kids.

Hotel Rwanda

First of all I cannot say "Loved it", But it deserves every star I can give this movie. The emotion I had was anger in regards to the situation and the fact that this was true. Every ugly thing about human nature and politics is right here, in your face, grim as it is but you gotta see it. This movie will haunt you for a bit after you watch it. Cheadle will amaze you with his performance. I have always enjoyed his roles he has taken but this was outstanding.

American Beauty

There was so much hype and buzz associated with this movie when it came out, I was convinced I had to see it (clever marketing scam got me!)Boy I was dissapointed with this. What bothered me the most was the subject matter. Maybe I have a shallow mind but I could not stomach the whole attempt to get in the pants of a child by the main character. I spent the whole time sqirming and disturbed and angry that this garbage was "rewarded" with an award for basically pedophilia. This movie obviously struck a negative chord with me and I couldn't get past it. And it is so scary that this subject matter is probably closer to life than I even want to believe. We see enough of this cr*p in the news. That is why I had to give it one star.

Ok, I must admit there were some funny moments but there wasn't enough of them to balance out the time I was bored in this film. It probably does represent a lot of retired men's lives. I wouldn't watch it again but I am glad I got to experience it. It's really 2.5 stars

Titanic

I know it may sound corny, but I have to admit that I want to watch this movie over and over again. (whew, it's a lot of hours too!)I wanted to NOT like it for a long time and avoided it. I took a chance, (alone so no one could ruin for me)and it payed off. Now I consider this epic right up there with great movies like "Gone with the Wind". The music was terrific. The casting is good (but Leo was what was kinda holding me back for a while during the whole "Leo-mania" time period) I have a new respect for the believable acting. Go ahead invest the time, you may be a new fan.

Tom and Jerry: Whiskers Away!

Sadly, todays cartoons don't hold a candle to the likes of these classics. This DVD has such a great collection of classic Tom and Jerry. You won't be disapointed. I can guarantee smiles and laughter from my kids when I pop this one in the player. Try it!

The Outsiders - The Complete Novel Extended Edition

This new release is great. The extra footage that was added really added to this 5 star movie. And integrated seamlessly unlike some films in which the stick extra footage at the end or in some bonus feature section. The new soundtrack was ok but at times seemed out of place for some the more dramatic parts. Having been many years since I have seen this movie, I almost thought I might find it corny seeing it now, BOY I WAS WRONG. It was great then, great now. Those hot actors still look good.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

There are not many movies like this one. This is one that I have shared with others on numerous occassions and will continue to watch over and over again. The casting was perfect. The humor is so sutble, yet so in your face. The music really is so superb. (It was the first time, I'd ever heard Bluegrass, I bought the soundtrack and the movie!)You'll definitely smile watching this one.

Pay It Forward

This movie has an interesting concept that springs about in the mind of a loner child (excellently played by the talented Haley Joel Osment). Kevin Spacey's character as the teacher reminds us of some of our more inspiring educators of our youth. Although I am not a huge Helen Hunt fan I was not bothered by her performance. This story touched my heart and I yearned for more. Although, I was not expecting the ending to be as it was. But if it had been any different, you would see more "bad reviews". You won't waste your time with this "feel good" story.

I Am Sam

WOW! What an emotional rollercoaster this movie will bring you on. I was crying and laughing at the same time. A definite movie to have tissue handy. I felt the acting was great, the photography etc (if you are into all that)Basically this was a story of the love between a parent and his child. No one or thing can take that away and that was the strong message that resonated through me as I watched this. Definitely rent this one.

Cindy Crawford: Shape Your Body Workout

This work out video is so different from other videos. Yes, it is ten years old, but in a class all of it's own. The format is great. Two 45 minute segments and one 10 minute "quickie". The moves can be challenging to execute but Ciny and Radu also give you pointers and saftey tips along the way. There are just enough breaks to to recover! My legs and abs have really felt it with this video. Buy it, I did!
