001- Mamma Mia!

On the idyllic Greek isle of Kalokairi, single mom Donna Sheridan (Meryl Streep) goes into a tizzy when her bride-to-be daughter (Amanda Seyfried), in a bid to learn her father's identity, invites three of Donna's ex-lovers to the wedding. Buoyed by the tunes of ABBA, this effervescent yarn -- a Golden Globe nominee for Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) -- also stars Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård as the trio of potential dads.

002- Dreamgirls

Broadway's definitive girl-group musical about three women who have high hopes for fame but end up paying a price for it makes its way to the big screen with Bill Condon at the helm and a dream cast that includes Jamie Foxx and Beyoncé Knowles. Eddie Murphy co-stars in an Oscar-nominated role, but Jennifer Hudson took home the golden statuette for playing the strong but slighted Effie. The film was nominated for eight Oscars overall in 2007.

003- Sweeney Todd

Johnny Depp reteams with director Tim Burton for this big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, earning an Oscar nod as vengeful Sweeney Todd, who becomes a deranged murderer after being falsely imprisoned by a sinister judge (Alan Rickman). To cover his tracks, Todd enlists the help of Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter), who disposes of the victims by baking them into tasty meat pies that become the toast of London.

004- Hairspray

Set in 1962, this colorful adaptation of the Tony-winning musical (spawned by director John Waters's cult classic of the same name) follows ambitious teen Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky), who tries to integrate a racially divided Baltimore one watusi at a time. The film's star-studded cast includes John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Allison Janney, James Marsden and Amanda Bynes.

005- The Phantom of the Opera: Special Edition

Director Joel Schumacher brings Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical to the big screen. Gerard Butler stars as the disfigured, reclusive genius who roams beneath the Paris Opera and takes budding star Christine (Emmy Rossum) under his wing. But as he falls for her, she finds love with handsome Raoul (Patrick Wilson). Enraged, the Phantom nearly kills Christine, but soon refocuses his efforts on expressing his love -- and humanity -- through music.

006- Across the Universe

An American girl (Evan Rachel Wood) and a British lad (Jim Sturgess) fall in love amid the social and political upheaval of the 1960s in this movie musical from director Julie Taymor that features classic Beatles songs and a mix of live action and animation. On an excursion to America, Liverpool dock worker Jude (Sturgess) falls for Lucy (Wood). But when Lucy's brother (Joe Anderson) is drafted, Jude and Lucy take a stand as anti-war activists.

007- Songcatcher

During a visit to her sister in Appalachia, gifted musicologist Lily Penleric (Janet McTeer) stumbles upon a musical treasure trove of dozens of Scots-Irish ballads that have been preserved for generations by the local populace and are unknown to the outside world. Intent on collecting the beautiful songs, Lily comes to admire the locals, who live a tough, hardscrabble existence without complaint.

008- Get Rich or Die Tryin'

In director Jim Sheridan's gritty urban drama, a dope-peddling street punk sets out to turn his life around through music. Determined to leave his criminal days behind, inner-city drug dealer Marcus (50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson) pursues the one thing that inspires him -- rap music -- and on his life-altering journey, the aspiring artist runs into tough times. The film's supporting players include Viola Davis and Terrence Dashon Howard.

009- Hedwig and the Angry Inch

After a botched sex-change operation, East German glam rocker Hansel (John Cameron Mitchell) becomes Hedwig and travels across the United States with a stage show, following her ex-boyfriend (and former band mate) and telling her life story. Hedwig's offbeat show slays audiences -- but in diners not clubs. Mitchell also wrote and directed the comedy, which won at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for several Independent Spirit Awards.

010- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Eccentric candy man Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) prompts a frenzy when he announces that five golden tickets hidden inside his candy bars will get their holders into his top-secret factory. Amidst a world of Oompa Loompas and chocolate rivers, young Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) and Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson) get caught in the middle of Wonka's secret agenda in director Mel Stuart's Oscar-nominated fantasy based on Roald Dahl's award-winning book.

012- The Fighting Temptations

014- No Direction Home: Bob Dylan

This exhaustive film biography is a moving tribute to rock legend Bob Dylan by acclaimed director Martin Scorsese, featuring never-before-seen footage, rare concert performances and intimate interviews with members of the musician's inner circle. The documentary chronicles the singer-songwriter's influence on contemporary music via conversations with Joan Baez, Mavis Staples, Allen Ginsberg, Pete Seeger and the intensely private Dylan himself.

015- Grease

Director Randal Kleiser's film version of the hit Broadway musical about 1950s teen angst took the country by storm, inspiring a wave of nostalgia and receiving a slew of Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. In between flashily choreographed musical numbers, the film chronicles the romantic entanglements of a group of high school seniors, starting with a summer fling between greaser Danny (John Travolta) and good girl Sandy (Olivia Newton-John).

016- Metallica: Some Kind of Monster

Documentarians Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky had unprecedented access to Metallica while the rockers recorded their 2003 album, "St. Anger." And the filmmakers were in the right place at the right (or perhaps wrong) time when lead singer James Hetfield spent five months in rehab. They also recorded the fallout when bassist Jason Newstad was replaced with Robert Trujillo and were on hand during the group's no-holds-barred therapy sessions.

017- You Got Served

It's all about the Benjamins … and respect. But if you've got the moves, anything's possible! Elgin (Marques Houston of IMX) and David (Omarion of B2K) are best buddies and leaders of the best street dance crew in the area. But when another top group challenges them to a battle, David and Elgin, along with their friends (Raz B, J Boog and Lil' Fizz), must create the "flyest" moves to retain their "cred."

018- Pink Floyd: The Wall

Inspired by the album of the same name, director Alan Parker's revolutionary rock opera traces the troubled past of Pink (Bob Geldof), a depressed rock star at the end of his rope. With the wall as a metaphor for self-inflicted isolation, Pink is lost in despair, feeling trapped and desperately searching for a way out. The Wall's stylized blend of drama, music and Gerald Scarfe's brilliant animation earned the film instant cult status.

019- Pete's Dragon

One of Disney's last musical combinations of live-action and traditional animation spins the tale of Pete, a runaway orphan (Sean Marshall), and his pet dragon, Elliott (voiced by comedian Charlie Callas). A lighthouse owner (Mickey Rooney) and his daughter (Helen Reddy, who sings the Oscar-nominated "Candle on the Water") take in the boy and the dragon. Don Bluth (An American Tale) was the director of animation.

020- The Last Waltz

On Thanksgiving Day 1976, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese was among more than 5,000 cheering fans gathered for the historic farewell concert of The Band, a Canadian country-soul-R&B group formed in 1960. Scorsese later edited the concert footage to create this documentary, interspersing band interviews with performances by legends such as Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris.

021- Funny Face

Fred Astaire's inimitable dancing feet come full circle in George and Ira Gershwin's airy 1957 musical gambol about high-fashion photography in Paris, co-starring Audrey Hepburn as a newly discovered fashion model. Paris (and Hepburn) have rarely looked better thanks to Ray June's luminous cinematography, and the classic score includes songs such as "S'Wonderful," "He Loves and She Loves" and the title tune.

022- The Prince of Egypt

Born into slavery and cast adrift on the Nile to escape mass genocide, Moses (voiced by Val Kilmer) is reared as the son of Pharaoh Seti (Patrick Stewart) and stepbrother of Ramses (Ralph Fiennes). When Moses learns of his true ancestry, he retreats to the desert, where he answers God's call and accepts his destiny: to lead the Hebrews out of slavery and into freedom. DreamWorks' animated film scored an Oscar for Best Song ("When You Believe").

023- The Music Man

It doesn't get any better than this slice of Midwestern Americana. Charming con man Harold Hill (Robert Preston) wants to steal River City, Iowans' money with a "boys' band" scam but finds it hard to skip town when lovely librarian Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones) steals his heart. Composer Meredith Willson's valentine to his hometown (Mason City) packs great songs and wonderful performances from, among others, Buddy Hackett and a young Ron Howard.

024- Neil Young: Heart of Gold

Acclaimed director Jonathan Demme turns his cameras on musician Neil Young in this intimate two-night concert. Nashville, Tenn.'s landmark Ryman Auditorium provides superb acoustics for a soul-baring set from Young's album "Prairie Wind," with the legendary singer-songwriter also performing reworked versions of some classics. Joining Young onstage are his wife, Pegi, Emmylou Harris, Ben Keith and others.

025- Evita

It's easy to see Adolf Hitler's long shadow hanging over this true story about power and fame. In 1930s Argentina, small-town girl Evita (Madonna) enters show business, becomes a star and ends up married to President Juan Perón (Jonathan Pryce). Her position as the nation's most beloved woman makes her a martyr upon her death. The enigmatic Ché (Antonio Banderas) narrates the story.
